Joshua Poovey

Joshua is a trial lawyer whose state and federal litigation practice focuses on employment law, complex civil litigation, commercial disputes, and personal injury matters. He is committed to delivering exceptional legal representation and practical, proactive counsel that helps clients navigate complex legal challenges, minimize litigation risk, and achieve their business and personal objectives. His extensive courtroom experience includes serving as lead trial counsel in cases tried throughout Oklahoma state and federal courts.

In addition to his litigation practice, Joshua regularly advises employers on a broad range of employment and labor law matters. He counsels clients on compliance and best practices involving employee handbooks and workplace policies, wage and hour laws, FMLA obligations, workplace safety, worker classification, employee discipline and termination, reductions in force, and employment agreements, including restrictive covenants. A significant portion of his consulting practice is dedicated to helping employers prevent and address discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims. He also conducts and advises on workplace investigations, providing practical guidance to help organizations resolve sensitive issues effectively and lawfully.

Joshua’s professional accomplishments have earned him recognition as an Oklahoma Super Lawyers “Rising Star”. He is admitted to practice before all Oklahoma state and federal courts, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Outside of his legal practice, Joshua enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons. He is actively involved in coaching youth sports and is passionate about mentoring young men as a youth leader at First Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. His commitment to serving the community also includes board service with First Wesleyan Church, Wesleyan Christian School, and B The Light Mission.
